Egil Rostad has been a cello and strings teacher for almost twenty years. He is conservatory trained (the Eastman School of Music and Oberlin Conservatory) and provides a holistic and supportive learning experience that is based on an enriched version of the Suzuki Method. Egil is a registered teacher with The Suzuki Association of the Americas.

Egil is a faculty member of three prestigious schools in New York City. He teaches on the faculty of The Diller-Quaile School of Music, where he coaches the cello section of The Diller-Quaile Orchestra, as well as chamber music. The Early Childhood division of Diller-Quaile has invited Egil as a regular guest didgeridoo presenter for several years in their “Meet the Instrument” classes. He has also acted as Head Teacher for the cello segment of their “Play the Instument” classes. At The School for Strings, Egil teaches private cello and group cello classes. And in 2016, Egil joined the music faculty at the British International School of New York.

In addition to being a member of music school faculties, Egil maintains a private teaching studio in his fully-outfitted loft in downtown Manhattan’s historic NoHo district.
